Emergency Notification System (ENS)                       ALL STAFF TEST

The ENS Project Team thanks everyone who participated in last week’s test of our Emergency Notification System. A special note of appreciation goes out both to those who took the time to complete the survey afterward and to those who emailed additional comments.

Testing is a necessary step to evaluate the effectiveness of our equipment and processes. The results of the tests, along with your candid feedback, will most certainly help us improve the system for the future.

While bumps are normal in the testing stage of any new system, we’re pleased to report successes as well. Some interesting stats from the test:

• Over the three stages of the test, messages were sent to more than 9,000 email accounts and screens across campus. That’s over 27,000 in total!
• 87% of the emails were delivered in less than one minute.
• 78% of the screen alerts in stage 1 were acknowledged by employees who were at their desks at the time.
